Carrie Rose is dedicated to performing new flute music, composing, and educating young people and adults about new realms in music.

She has performed throughout the United States, Russia, Eastern Europe, and Western Europe as an orchestral musician, chamber musician, and soloist.  Recent performances have included recitals on the Ars Viva Concert Series at Goucher College, and the Contemporary Concert Series at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, both in collaboration with percussionist Sylvia Smith.  Rose performed on a concert entitled "The Dawn of the 21st Century" at the National Flute Association Convention in San Diego.  Books of Flutes, a solo and ensemble CD featuring Carrie Rose, will be released this fall by 11 West Records.

The Washington Post described her as a "very able, articulate and charming flutist."  About her performance of his music, Start Saunders Smith writes, "Carrie Rose is an extraordinary flutist.  She plays my music with both passion and discipline--my ideal of an interpreter."

Also a composer, her music and movement composition, Rainbows Inside Out, was premiered at the University of the District of Columbia by members of the DC Youth Orchestra.  Rose received a grant for directing and composing this piece from the American Composers Forum.  Other compositions have been performed at the University of Maryland Baltimore county, University of Maryland College Park, Strathmore Hall in Rockville, Maryland, and the Mosaic Concert Series in Adelphi, Maryland.  She wrote Decications, a book of 12 solos and chamber pieces commissioned by 12 different young flutists.  Each piece includes a different contemporary technique that is interwoven with theatrical elements.  They were premiered in October at Strathmore Mansion outside of Washington, DC.

Ms. Rose is a recipient of a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award for solo flute performance, and was granted a Montgomery County Arts and Humanities Commission Individual Artist Award for her work in both flute performance and music composition.

Rose has been teaching private flute lesons for nine years.  During these lessons she encourages her students to improvise and compose.

She earned Master and Bachelor of Music degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of Joshua Smith, principal flutist in the Cleveland Orchestra.  She currently studies composition with Stuart Saunders Smith of Baltimore, Maryland.
